The sounds you love

One in two of us will experience deafness and hearing loss at some point. So why risk losing the sounds you love?

Through our campaigns RNID works to raise awareness of the risks we take with our hearing, and offers advice on how to avoid them - such as turning the volume down when listening to music.

We also provide a simple telephone hearing check and fund vital research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of hearing loss.

Silence is golden sometimes!

Steve says:
I was sitting at my computer desk recently when I felt a tiny vibration through the keyboard. Lunch […] Read more...

I realised I had a problem, went for a hearing […] Read more...

“Loud jet engines and sports cars…”

Mike’s story:
There is a history of deafness in my family, so it was no surprise that some form of deafness affected me, my left ear being the one affected. I put some of it down to loud jet engines and sports cars without silencers. I was supplied with an analogue aid which helped.
Four years ago, […] Read more...

We subtitle Big Ben!

Earlier this week, we subtitled Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus. But last night we went one step further and subtitled Big Ben!  Imagine if you couldn’t hear the bing bong of Big Ben’s chimes?  We hope that everyone who saw Big Ben subtitled last night, took just one minute to imagine a world without sound.
